The Secret Neighborhood of Laughlin Park
In the hills between Los Feliz Boulevard and Franklin Avenue one
will find the private gated community of Laughlin Park. While being one of the lesser known areas Laughlin Park manages to find itself as one of the top five neighborhoods in the City of Angels as rated by Los Angeles Magazine. Established in 1905 by Homer Laughlin, builder of the first reinforced concrete building in the city, Homer bought a large tract of land on the western boarder of Los Feliz between Franklin Avenue and Los Feliz Blvd. The Laughlin Park real estate experience is marked by a rich Hollywood history in film lore amidst privacy and a peaceful atmosphere.
The enclave boasts verdant tree lined lanes, providing shade from the Los Angeles sun. The walls and columns of these houses share a past with several famous personalities who had once lived in this quiet place. In the early years of the neighborhood, silent comedian Charlie Chaplin and successful filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille resided here. Today many well-known celebrities and filmmakers call it home.
When searching for real estate in Laughlin Park, one will immediately notice the beautifully constructed houses designed by some notable architects — Lloyd Wright, Gordon Kaufman, Julia Morgan, and Roland Coate. Different architectural designs in the area give each home their own character. A couple of Craftsman houses with beamed ceilings and stone sidings are comfortably nestled in their lots. There are also homes inspired by structures you'll find in
European cities and countrysides, most of which give off a Mediterranean ambiance. Prime architectural homes add color to this private community that welcomes variety and diversity.
In Laughlin Park, views of the surrounding lush park canyons splendidly contrasts with the busy downtown skyline. Both children and adults alike will definitely enjoy these verdant surroundings.
